  • Welfare and catering provisions available

    For our customers who remain without power this evening, we have catering and welfare provisions in place which can be found in the following locations:

    •    Brora - Sutherland Inn – serving hot drinks during the day and meals from 5pm
    •    Dornoch - Castaway Chip Shop
    •    Golspie - The Trawler Takeaway
    •    Rhiconich - The Rhiconich Hotel
    •    Lairg - Lairg Highland Hotel
    •    Nairn / Lethen - Mr Tan Chinese Takeaway, Nairn – open from 4.30pm and can deliver
    •    Muir of Ord - Finnies Chip Shop
    •    Aviemore - Smiffy’s Chip Shop – serving lunch and tea
    •    Aviemore - Winking Owl Restaurant – serving lunch and tea
    •    Durness – catering van at the car park opposite MacKay’s Room later this afternoon
    •    Ullapool Ferry Terminal – catering van near the pier from 4pm
    •    Foyers – catering van in the doctor’s surgery car park
    •    Lybster – catering van beside the Portland Arms
    •    John O’Groats – catering van at the Village Hall
    •    Shenval – catering van at Glen Urquhart

    For our customers who remain without power this afternoon, we have catering and welfare provisions in place which can be found in the following locations:

  • Do you need to be on our Priority Services Register?

    To make sure all of our customers who are on our Priority Services - and without power - are safe, we will be calling them or visiting them directly.

    If you or a friend, family member or neighbour requires help during a storm make sure they’ve joined our Priority Services Register. If they need any of the following, please get them to call us on 0800 294 3259 immediately:

    - Are dependent on electricity for home medical care, for example a kidney dialysis machine or ventilator

    - Have a chronic illness or short term medical condition; for example you are recovering from a major operation

    - Are disabled

    - Have special communication needs; for example blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing

    - Have a young baby

    - Receive a state pension

  • Welfare and catering provisions - North of Scotland

    For our customers in the North of Scotland - who remain without power this afternoon - there are catering and welfare facilities in the following areas:

    •    Beauly - Durness car park across from Mackay’s Room from later this afternoon

    •    Kingussie - Ullapool Ferry Terminal area from later this afternoon

    •    Tomatin - Foyers Doctor Surgery Car park from later this afternoon

    •    Lybster - Portland Arms Hotel

    •    John O’Groats – Village Hall

    •    Drumnadrochit – Shenval, opposite Youth Hostel from later this afternoon

    In Wick and Tain, we have Haste vans distributing hot food door-to-door throughout the afternoon.

  • Welfare and catering provisions – Highlands

    Some of our customers around Inverness, Dingwall and Wick are without power due to multiple areas of damage on the electricity network.

    Customers are being offered hotel accommodation and meals, and there are catering facilities located at various sites across the region. British Red Cross has been helping us to distribute additional hot food, drinks and blankets to our vulnerable customers.

  • Welfare and catering provisions – Western Isles

    Some of our customers on the Western Isles are without power and efforts are being made to speak to each of them directly to offer them accommodation and meals in local hotels of their choice. Rooms at local hotels have already been booked for all of the customers in the area who are on our Priority Services Register.

    Generators and hot food and drink are also being distributed to our most vulnerable customers, with glow sticks and heat sources being delivered where required. Hot meals and drinks are also being provided at local hotels in Stornoway and Tarbert.

  • Welfare and catering provisions – Island of Scalpay

    Some of our customers on the Island of Scalpay remain without power and all have been contacted individually to make sure they have adequate heating and food provisions.

    The severe weather has hampered engineers gaining access and they are doing all they can to reach the island to carry our repairs and restore power.

  • Welfare and catering provisions – Island of Coll

    Some of our customers on Coll are without power and all have been spoken to face-to-face by a Scottish Hydro Electricity Power Distribution colleague - who is located on the island - to ensure that they have adequate heating and food provisions.

    Our engineers are doing all they can to gain access to carry out repairs and restore power.
