Kind-hearted colleagues from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) have been getting into the festive spirit of giving by collecting presents for Wave 105’s Cash for Kids appeal.

The six-strong team from SSEN’s New Forest depot have been busy over the last few weeks, not only in their day jobs, but as they worked to collect over 60 presents for children’s charity Cash for Kids’ ‘Mission Christmas’.

Cash for Kids’ mission statement is to support children aged 0 to 18 years who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect, and their 'Mission Christmas’ appeal particularly resonated with the  New Forest team and spurred them into action. Between them, they highlighted the appeal across the region and then used their spare time to gather together the many presents donated by colleagues.

Graham Summers is SSEN’s Network Support Manager for the New Forest and Wessex, and was instrumental in getting the team involved in the gift of giving.

He said: “Leading up to Christmas, the push is to collect Christmas presents for children that won’t receive anything on Christmas day.

“I can’t even imagine how these little kids feel, so our team have collected over 60 presents from colleagues in the New Forest depot.

“This is just our small attempt to make sure these children have something to open up on Christmas morning and I’d like to thank everyone who has helped us to make that possible.”
